Brazil had plenty to make up for in their match against Switzerland after losing star player Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior to an ankle injury. With seven minutes remaining in the game, Casemiro fired an unstoppable angled-shot into the far corner of the net, providing Brazil with a much-needed goal.
So far, Neymar has been deemed unfit to play the rest of the group games with his injured ankle. In response to this, Brazil head coach Tite replaced him with midfielder Fred. In addition to Fred, Real Madrid defender Éder Militão replaced Danilo in the right-back position.
For the first half of the game, both teams fought hard, but neither team managed to score. Brazil had plenty of shots, but Switzerland’s goalkeeper Yann Sommer stopped them all. In the 64th minute of the game, it seemed like Vinícius Júnior scored for Brazil. Unfortunately, the goal was overturned by Richarlison’s offside position.
Brazil takes the lead after a nice flick to Casemiro sets up the Manchester United midfielder for a stunning volley into the back of the net.
With this win, Brazil secured their place in the World Cup top 16 with one game to spare. Switzerland, on the other hand, will need a win or draw against Serbia if they want to qualify for Round of 16.
