Cristiano Ronaldo to Reportedly Leave Al-Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo has been making headlines yet again, but this time it’s not because of his on-field performances. The Portuguese superstar reportedly wants to leave Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr just months after joining them from English giants Manchester United.
According to reports, the language barrier has been a significant obstacle for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, making it difficult for him to acclimatize to the new environment.
Interest in Ronaldo
But here’s the exciting news – Ronaldo’s former club Real Madrid has offered him a non-playing role as an ambassador, and the star is said to be keen on making a return. Although he inquired about returning as a player, his request was rejected by the club’s president and coach.
However, the Spanish giants are eager to bring their legend back to the Santiago Bernabeu, where he helped them achieve numerous trophies, both individually and as part of a team.
Ronaldo has been making waves in the Saudi Pro League, where he has been the poster boy for the league. However, his desire to continue achieving success wherever he plays suggests that a move back to Real Madrid would be a welcomed change.
Other Teams of Interest
In addition to Real Madrid, Newcastle United are reportedly in the mix to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Al-Nassr amid rumors the Portugal international is looking for a new club. Paddy Power has the MLS as the most likely destination for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, but former club Sporting Lisbon is also in contention. There is even speculation of a shock return to Manchester United or a reunion with Real Madrid, where he could take up an ambassadorial role.
Newcastle are sitting pretty in the Premier League, and a top-four finish would give manager Eddie Howe a huge boost to his transfer budget. Ronaldo has been in top form for Al-Nassr, scoring 12 goals in just as many league games this season, but he is rumored to be unhappy and wants out. Whether he ends up at St. James’ Park remains to be seen, but the Magpies are in with a shout at 6/1.
Ronaldo’s Time with Al Nassr
Although Ronaldo’s time at Al-Nassr has been short, he has already made a significant impact, helping them close the gap on table-toppers Al-Ittihad.
In addition to this, the Portuguese striker’s goalscoring abilities have continued to shine since joining Al-Nassr, with 12 goals and two assists in 12 appearances.
Al-Nassr recently let go of Rudi Garcia and replaced him with Dinko Jelicic as their manager. Ronaldo took to Instagram to wish his former manager farewell, thanking him for the opportunity to work together.
What’s Next?
Ronaldo’s team will be back in action on Saturday night, hosting Al-Khaleej at the Al-Awwal Park. Despite Ronaldo’s current success, a move back to Madrid, where he once enjoyed massive success, may be on the cards, but only in a non-playing capacity.
Fans of the Bernabeu outfit will undoubtedly welcome their club legend back with open arms, and who knows, he might even help guide them to more success, but this time, in a non-playing capacity.
