England Snags a Much-Needed Win

In a must-win match against New Zealand, England rose to the occasion to win by 20-runs. It was an exciting match for fans as England had a strong inning and made it tough for New Zealand to chase.

Jos Buttler and Alex Hales carried most of the team’s score and combined for a total of 125 runs. Mark Wood was also in the spotlight as he bowled the fastest delivery in the tournament at 154.74kph. By the end of their innings England’s team’s total came to 179/6.

New Zealand’s duo of Kane Williamson and Glenn Philips combined for 91 runs with Philips scoring 62 as they tried to chase down the required runs. Crucially for England, Sam Curran stepped up and dismissed both Finn Allen and Glenn Philips at crucial points in the game.

With this win, England is now tied with New Zealand and Australia in the group standings. Both teams go into their last matches needing a win to secure their spot in the semi-finals.
