Nicholas Pooran Hits Record IPL Fifty
Nicholas Pooran stole the show in a spectacular display of batting, helping Lucknow Super Giants in their chase against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Pooran came in to bat when LSG was struggling at 99/4, but he quickly turned the game on its head.
With a strike rate of 326.32, he smashed 62 runs off just 19 balls, including seven sixes, leaving the opposition shell-shocked.
Pooran’s 15-ball fifty was the joint second-fastest in IPL history, alongside Sunil Narine’s 2017 blitz against RCB. He hit five sixes in just six deliveries, showing his ability to clear the ropes with ease.

What Happened in the Match
Earlier, RCB’s opening duo of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli set the tone for their team with a century partnership. Kohli, in particular, was in sensational form, hitting six boundaries and three sixes en route to his 61 off 44 balls.
Du Plessis played the perfect supporting role, allowing Kohli to take the lead and stepping up when needed.
Glenn Maxwell provided the finishing touches to RCB’s innings with a blistering knock of 59 off 29 balls. He hit four boundaries and five sixes, taking the team’s total to an imposing 212/2.
After RCB posted an imposing total of 212/2, LSG lost early wickets and was struggling at 99/4 before Pooran arrived and turned the game on its head.
However, Pooran’s dismissal in the 17th over gave RCB a chance to win. Unfortunately, mistakes by the bowlers allowed LSG to take advantage of the situation. The game went down to the wire, and LSG needed one run off the final delivery.
Harshal Patel had the opportunity to get the non-striker out, but he failed to do so. Then, Dinesh Karthik made a mistake that allowed LSG to win by a very small margin.

The Aftermath of the Match
Lucknow’s victory moved them to the top of the IPL 2023 standings with three wins in four matches, while Bengaluru remained in seventh place with just one win in three games and a negative Net Run Rate of -0.800.
The Chinnaswamy Stadium has witnessed several last-ball finishes, and this match was no exception. The Super Giants were under intense pressure after losing two to three quick wickets, but their lower-order batsmen held their nerve and brought the game home for Lucknow.
