With South Africa’s surprising loss to the Netherlands, the game between Pakistan and Bangladesh was always going to be a tight and tense match as a semi-final spot was at stake. Pakistan came out triumphant beating Bangladesh by 5 wickets and will play New Zealand in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
Plenty of credit goes to Pakistan openers Muhammad Rizwan and Babar Azam for earning a combined score of 57-runs at the start of their innings. However, it was Shaheen Shah Afridi’s bowling (4/22) that helped secure Pakistan’s win.
Bangladesh’s Najmul Hossain Shanto scored a half-century but that was as good as it got as their campaign comes to an end. Pakistan will hope that their bowlers will continue to shine and overcome New Zealand in the semis.
