Mohammad Rizwan scored an unbeaten 78 from 50 balls as Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 21 runs in the T20 tri-series opener in New Zealand.
Rizwan carried on his form from the 4-3 home T20I series defeat to England, when he managed four half-centuries in six innings.
The opener’s knock on Friday, which contained seven fours and two sixes, saw Pakistan post 167-5, before his team’s bowlers limited Bangladesh to 146-8 in reply as paceman Mohammad Wasim bagged 3-24.
The margin of Bangladesh’s defeat was narrowed as they smoked 20 from Haris Rauf’s final over – Yasir Ali (42no off 21) with three fours and a six.
Pakistan return to action on Saturday against hosts New Zealand, with Bangladesh to face the Black Caps on Sunday.
