The India women’s cricket team is set to embark on a highly anticipated tour of Bangladesh next month. The white-ball series, which consists of three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and as many Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), promises to be an exciting contest between the two neighboring nations.

In preparation for the upcoming series, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced its 20-member preliminary squad for the matches against India. Some notable changes have been made to the team composition, with experienced players Jahanara Alam and Rumana Ahmed being left out of the squad. However, a familiar face, Salma Khatun, makes a comeback to the side after being dropped from the previous series against Sri Lanka.

The selected players will converge in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, this Friday, and the training camp will kick off the following day. The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, located in Mirpur, will serve as the venue for all the matches in the series. Notably, this will be the first time in 11 years that Mirpur hosts a women’s international game, with the last one taking place in 2012 when the Bangladesh women’s team faced off against South Africa.

One of the highlights of the series is the inclusion of the three ODIs as part of the ongoing 2022-2025 International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s Championship. This championship, contested by ten teams, holds significant importance as it will determine qualification for the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup. The matches between India and Bangladesh will be crucial for both teams, as they strive to secure their places in the prestigious tournament.

Following the T20Is, the focus will shift to the three ODIs, which are slated for July 16, 19, and 22. Cricket enthusiasts and fans from both nations eagerly await the showdown, hoping to witness thrilling encounters and memorable performances.

This diverse squad comprises a blend of young talent and seasoned campaigners, all eager to make their mark in the upcoming series. With a strong pool of players to choose from, the Bangladesh women’s team will aim to give a tough fight to the Indian side.
