Will South Africa’s Luck Turn in This Years T20 World Cup

Expectations for South Africa are low for this year’s World Cup with Australia and India being strong favourites. The Proteas have never won any format of the ICC World Cup but have managed to 2 semi-final appearances at the 2009 and 2014 T20 World Cups.

For this year’s tournament, the team’s lineup is as follows:

Temba Bavuma (C)

Quinton de Kock

Heinrich Klaasen

Reeza Hendricks

Keshav Maharaj

Aiden Markram

David Miller

Lungi Ngidi

Anrich Nortje

Wayne Parnell

Kagiso Rabada

Rillee Rossouw

Tabraiz Shamsi

Tristan Stubbs

Marco Jansen

The Proteas are ranked fourth on the MRF ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings and will hope to live up to that ranking. With their warm-up games behind them, they look forward to kicking off their T20 World Cup campaign on Monday, 24th October. With explosive batters, there is hope that they can at least reach the semi-final stage and upset the odds to win their first ever ICC T20 World Cup.
