Harmanpreet In Top 10 Of ICC Women’s T20I Rankings
Harmanpreet Kaur, the talented cricketer and captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, has once again proved her mettle on the field.
Harmanpreet is back in the top 10 of the ICC women’s T20I batting rankings. Kaur’s exceptional performance in the opening T20I of the series against Bangladesh saw her rise four places to secure the 10th position in the rankings.
In that particular match, Kaur played a match-winning innings, remaining unbeaten on 54 runs off just 35 balls, while chasing a target of 115. Her remarkable display of skill and determination not only helped her team secure victory but also boosted her individual rankings. Tahlia McGrath currently leads the batting rankings with 784 rating points, closely followed by her teammate Beth Mooney with 777. The top five is completed by Smriti Mandhana (728), Sophie Devine (683), and Suzie Bates (677).
Apart from Kaur’s rise in the batting rankings, another Indian player, Deepti Sharma, made significant strides in the bowlers’ list. Her economical bowling performance of 0 for 14 in the same game propelled her to the 3rd position in the bowlers’ rankings with 733 rating points. Sharma’s remarkable spell not only helped India restrict Bangladesh but also brought her closer to Nonkululeko Mlaba (746) and Sophie Ecclestone (788) in the rankings.
Meanwhile, Suzie Bates, the accomplished New Zealand cricketer, regained her spot in the top five of the batting rankings. Bates, who was previously ranked number one, advanced three places to reach the fifth position after scoring 44 and 52 runs in her team’s victorious series against Sri Lanka. Her contributions played a crucial role in securing a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Hayley Matthews, the captain of the West Indies women’s cricket team, also experienced a rise in the rankings. Matthews, who was named the ‘player of the series’ for her outstanding performances with both bat and ball against Ireland, ascended five places to secure the 17th position among batters. Her scores of 37, 50, and 48 in the series, combined with eight wickets, propelled her three places to the seventh position among bowlers. Matthews achieved her career-best rating points of 422 in the all-rounders’ list but remains in the second position, with Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner leading the way with 435 rating points. Matthews previously held the top spot in the all-rounders’ rankings in October 2017.
Amelia Kerr, the talented all-rounder from New Zealand, also witnessed a rise in her rankings. After scoring 34 and remaining unbeaten on 33 in two matches, Kerr moved up two places to secure the 15th position among batters and three places to reach the 11th position among bowlers. Her impressive performances also propelled her one slot higher to the third position among all-rounders.
Danni Wyatt from England and Ellyse Perry from Australia were among the other batters who gained ground in the T20I rankings. Wyatt climbed three places to secure the 14th position, while Perry rose six places to secure the 25th position in the rankings.
In the bowling rankings, Lea Tuhuhu from New Zealand rose two places to secure the sixth position, Fran Jonas, another New Zealand spinner, climbed three places to reach the 16th position, and Udeshika Prabodhani, the left-arm seamer from Sri Lanka, advanced eight places to reach the 28th position.
Shifting the focus to the ODI Player Rankings, Natthakan Chantham, the opener from Thailand, moved up seven places to secure the 22nd position after scoring 65 and 64 runs in recent matches. Naruemol Chaiwi, the captain of the Thailand team, also made significant progress, rising seven places to secure the 36th position in the rankings.
Lastly, Dutch seam bowler Iris Zwilling experienced a remarkable climb of eight places to reach the 41st position after an impressive display, grabbing five wickets in two matches.
