Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan Back for T20I vs Bangladesh
Rashid Khan, the star spinner of the Afghanistan cricket team, has made a remarkable comeback after facing fitness issues that kept him out of the majority of the series. His return to the squad is a positive development for Afghanistan, who suffered a crushing defeat against Bangladesh in the one-off Test match, losing by a massive margin of 546 runs.
Afghanistan recently announced their 16-member squad for the T20I leg of their tour to Bangladesh, and Rashid Khan’s inclusion is undoubtedly a boost for the team. Alongside Rashid, other prominent players like Mohammad Shahzad, Mohammad Nabi, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman have also been selected for the star-studded squad. The T20I series, comprising two matches, is scheduled to take place from July 14 to July 16. Before the T20Is, there will be an ODI contest between the two teams, which is set to be held from July 5 to July 11.
Rashid Khan’s presence will not be limited to the T20Is alone. He will also feature in the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. This series holds significant importance for both teams, as Bangladesh’s squad selection has been influenced by their preparations for the World Cup 2023.
Bangladesh, too, will witness the return of an influential player in the form of Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib had missed the one-off Test against Afghanistan due to a finger injury he sustained during the ODI series against Ireland in May earlier this year. His presence in the Bangladesh squad adds further strength to their lineup.
The ODI series will commence on July 5, with the first match scheduled to take place on that day. The second ODI will be played on July 8, followed by the third and final match of the series on July 11. All these matches are scheduled to be held at the same venue, Chattogram.
The Afghanistan squad for the T20Is includes several talented players, such as Rashid Khan, who is also the captain, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Hazratullah Zazai, Mohammad Shahzad, Ibrahim Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zadran, Sediq Atal, Karim Janat, Azmatullah Omarzai, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Naveen-ul-Haq, Wafadar Momand, Farid Ahmad Malik, Noor Ahmad, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh squad for the ODI series consists of Tamim Iqbal as the captain, Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Towhid Hridoy, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam, Afif Hossain Dhrubo, and Naim Sheikh.
The upcoming T20Is and ODIs series serve as an exciting platform for both teams to exhibit their remarkable skills, while engaging in intense competition at the highest level of cricket. With the eagerly anticipated return of influential players such as the immensely talented Rashid Khan and the seasoned all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, these matches are poised to be nothing short of captivating, offering fans a delightful feast of enthralling cricketing action that will leave them on the edge of their seats.
