Argentina Qualifies for Their 6th World Cup Finals

Argentina has made it to the finals and could win their 3rd World Cup. This is all thanks Lionel Messi and Julian Alvarez, who launched the team to victory with Messi scoring the opener while Alvarez got on the scoresheet twice. With a 3-0 victory, the team will be going against Morocco or France on Sunday.

At the start of the match, Croatia was quick to dominate possession and most of action was played in Argentina’s half. While Croatia had plenty of chances, they were unable to make their possession count.

In the 25th minute of the game, Enzo Fernandez saw an opportunity to score and tried a shot from 25 yards. Unfortunately for him, goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic managed to lunge in time to deflect the ball.

Argentina had another chance at scoring a goal later in the first half. In the 32nd minute, Argentina was awarded a penalty when Livakovic was deemed to have fouled Alvarez in the box. Messi stepped up and smashed home the penalty to give Argentina a 1-0 lead.

Five minutes later, Croatia’s backline scattered all over the place as they raced after Messi to prevent a second goal. It was chaos on the way to Croatia’s side, and thanks to some superb passing, Alvarez slipped through and managed to dink the ball into the goal, scoring Argentina’s second goal.

The team nearly scored a third goal in the 41st minute with a header from Alexis Mac Allister, but Dominik Livakovic denied him. With the first half ending 2-0, Croatia doubled their efforts in the second half at the game.

In the 68th minute of the game, Messi was against three Croatia players as they raced to block him from the goal. Messi evaded them with an amazing pirouetting dribble before narrowly passing to Julian Alvarez. With Messi’s beautiful assist, Alvarez put the ball pass Livakovic and scored Argentina’s third goal.

In addition to winning a spot in the finals, Lionel Messi equaled Lothar Matthaus’ record for the most World Cup appearances with his 25th start in the match against Croatia. And will go on to break the record for most appearances when he plays in the Final on Sunday.
