Exciting news for cricket fans! The West Indies ‘A’ team will be heading to Bangladesh in May to play three four-day “Test” matches against the hosts. The games will be held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, starting on May 16, and will have full first-class status.

This series marks the second ‘A’ men’s team tour in the last three years, as the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted many sporting events. The upcoming games form a reciprocal arrangement following the Bangladesh ‘A’ team tour of the West Indies last summer.

Statements on the Upcoming Test

“We are again pleased to work closely with the BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) as we confirm the match schedule for this upcoming men’s ‘A’ team series,” said Roland Holder, CWI’s manager of cricket operations.

In addition, he said the series would provide exposure for several players and noted it was a significant part of CWI’s commitment to continually develop talent and prepare them for the demands of international cricket.

The West Indies ‘A’ team is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on May 11, and the games will be a great opportunity for players to gain experience in foreign conditions. This is a vital part of their development in the pathway toward full international selection and provides a platform for further exposure and progress following the recent West Indies Championship and new Headley Weekes Tri-Series.

West Indies and Bangladesh’s Last Test

Last summer, the West Indies ‘A’ team engaged with the Bangladesh ‘A’ team in two four-day games and three 50-overs List A matches at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia.

The West Indies cricket team swept past Bangladesh in a one-sided series, winning the second test match by 10 wickets at the Daren Sammy Stadium. This was the second time the West Indies won a test in four days. Bangladesh was in trouble as they resumed play on 132 for six, needing 42 more runs to make the West Indies bat again. However, they only managed to last for 12 overs, falling for 186. Nurul Hasan, who remained unbeaten at 60, was the only one to offer some resistance.

The West Indies team scored 408 and 13 not out in the two innings, while Bangladesh managed to score only 234 and 186, respectively. The day’s play started with Mehidy Hasan Miraz hitting a boundary before getting out to an Alzarri Joseph bouncer. Jayden Seales, Joseph, and Kemar Roach took three wickets each to halt Bangladesh’s progress.

Results of the Last Test

In the end, Khaled Ahmed was run out for a duck, and Nurul remained unbeaten on 60, short of his career-best by four runs. The West Indies openers John Campbell and captain Kraigg Brathwaite took just 17 balls to chase the 13 runs required to win.

Bangladesh faced their 100th test loss in cricket after a series that was dominated by the West Indies team. Bangladesh will be looking to bounce back in the upcoming three Twenty20s and three one-day internationals, which will start on Saturday. The West Indies team will be looking to continue their winning momentum in the shorter formats of the game.

This time around, fans can expect some intense and exciting cricket as both teams will be competing to win.
