Beth Mooney’s Achievements
Beth Mooney’s impressive record in international cricket is sure to give her team an edge. Having played a crucial role in Australia’s T20 World Cup victories in 2018, 2020, and 2022, as well as the ODI World Cup and Commonwealth Games in 2022, she has proven her mettle time and time again. Not only that, but she has also clinched the Women’s Big Bash League three times, with an impressive tally of 2 centuries and 17 half-centuries.
As captain of the Gujarat Giants, Mooney will have a strong team to work with. Her deputy-in-chief, Sneh Rana, is a formidable player in her own right, having taken 24 wickets in 25 T20Is for India, with an economy rate of 6.21. Alongside them, the team will feature such luminaries as Mithali Raj, Rachael Haynes, and Nooshin Al Khadeer, all of whom are sure to make significant contributions.
Statements from Mooney, Sneh Rana, and other Team Members
In a recent interview, Mooney expressed her excitement about leading the team in the upcoming tournament. She stated that the squad is eager to get started and that they are looking forward to putting out an entertaining and effective brand of cricket that will hopefully lead them to the trophy. With such a strong lineup, it’s no wonder that she’s feeling confident about their chances.
This league will be the first time that Mooney will lead a side in an overseas T20 tournament. The franchise bought Mooney for INR 2 crore and Rana for INR 75 lakh in the WPL player auction earlier this month.
Another interview got a statement from Sneh Rana. As the vice-captain of the Gujarat Giants in the upcoming Women’s Premier League, Rana acknowledges the responsibility that comes with the position. “I am excited about putting up a great show in the debut edition of the Women’s Premier League,” says Rana. “Along with captain Beth Mooney, I hope to lead a strong and talented squad during the tournament.”
Head Coach Rachael Haynes is also optimistic about the team’s prospects, especially with Mooney and Rana at the helm. “It’s great to have the likes of Beth Mooney as our captain and Sneh Rana as the vice-captain,” says Haynes. “Both players are very well-established, and I expect the team to put their best foot forward. We’re excited about our new innings.”
The Gujarat Giants’ first match is set to take place on March 4, 2023, against the Mumbai Indians. It promises to be a thrilling start to what is sure to be an exciting tournament. Cricket fans around the world will no doubt be eagerly watching as Mooney and her team take to the field, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us.
