Bangladesh cricket stars, Towhid Hridoy and Taskin Ahmed, are highly sought after by teams as the LPL 2023 draws near.

Bangladesh middle-order batter, Towhid Hridoy, is joining the Jaffna Kings for the Lanka Premier League 2023, which is scheduled to kick off later this month. This opportunity marks a significant milestone for Hridoy, as it will be his first time participating in an overseas Twenty20 league, and he is determined to make the most of it.

However, Hridoy’s stint with the defending champions, Jaffna, will be relatively short-lived, as he has been enlisted as a replacement for the seasoned Pakistan all-rounder, Shoaib Malik, for only the first six games of the season. Malik, currently engaged in the ongoing Global T20 League in Canada, is expected to join the Jaffna Kings on August 8th, after fulfilling his commitments in the Canadian tournament.

For Hridoy, this presents an opportunity to showcase his talent and skills on the international stage. Being a replacement player for a prominent name like Shoaib Malik means he will have significant responsibilities on his shoulders. However, the young Bangladeshi batter remains undeterred and is eager to prove his worth.

“I have confirmed my availability with Jaffna, and the Bangladesh Cricket Board has already issued me the No Objection Certificate. If everything goes according to plan, I am scheduled to travel to Colombo on Friday, July 28th,” Hridoy said in an interview.

The Lanka Premier League is all set to raise the curtains to its fourth edition, promising thrilling matches and intense competition among the participating teams. The opening game at the R Premadasa Stadium will witness Jaffna Kings locking horns with Colombo Strikers.

A Showcase of Talent: Rohit’s Standout Performances

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the talented Bangladesh speedster, Taskin Ahmed, has received a lucrative offer from the Dambulla Aura. This comes as no surprise, considering Taskin’s impressive performances in various T20 leagues across the globe. However, his participation with the LPL franchise remains uncertain, pending a decision from the Bangladesh Cricket Board on the No Objection Certificate.

“We know that Taskin got an offer but he hasn’t officially applied for NOC yet. He let us know of his interest [to play] and the board will discuss the matter,” BCB cricket operations manager Shahriar Nafees said.

At present, Taskin is showcasing his skills in Zimbabwe, where he is representing the Bulawayo Braves in the ongoing Zim-Afro T10 League. The all-rounder is putting in the hard yards and continues to draw attention from franchises in other leagues.

Taskin got the chance to participate in country cricket with Yorkshire, but was not given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) due to the workload leading up to a World Cup. Additionally, he turned down offers from IPL’s Lucknow Super Giants and PSL’s Multan Sultans because of his commitments to the national team.
But if granted with the current opportunity, Taskin will be able to rub shoulders with some of the finest players in the LPL, gaining valuable experience and exposure that could prove invaluable for his development as a cricketer.

The Jaffna Kings will undoubtedly rely on Hridoy’s batting prowess to bolster their lineup in the absence of Shoaib Malik, while Dambulla Aura will hope to secure Taskin’s services to strengthen their bowling attack. Both players have a golden chance to make their mark and create lasting impressions on the cricketing world during their potential stints in the Lanka Premier League 2023.
