Litton Das Replaces Tamim as Bangladesh ODI Captain
Litton Das has been appointed as the new captain of the Bangladesh cricket team, stepping into the role after Tamim Iqbal’s surprising retirement. A BCB official confirmed the inclusion of batter Rony Talukdar, stating, “Rony will be drafted into the squad as we need to have another opener in the absence of Tamim Iqbal.” Talukdar, who had previously been part of the squad during the home series against Ireland and the tour to England, will now have the opportunity to showcase his skills once again.
Rony Talukdar, the batter set to replace Tamim, has limited international experience so far. He has played only one ODI match, where he scored four runs. In T20Is, Talukdar has accumulated 200 runs in seven matches for Bangladesh. This inclusion provides Talukdar with an opportunity to prove himself at the international level and make a case for a permanent spot in the squad.
The ongoing series against Afghanistan consists of three ODIs, with the first match already played on July 5th. The remaining two matches are scheduled to take place on July 8th and 11th in Chattogram. Following the ODI series, both teams will face off in a two-match T20 series, which will be held in Sylhet.
