The organizers of the Kabaddi League (PKL), Mashal Sports, have revealed the new dates for the Player Auction of Pro Kabaddi League Season 10. The auction is now scheduled to take place on October 9th and 10th, 2023.

Mashal Sports initially set the date for the Player Auction of PKL Season 10 on September 8-9. However, at the request of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India, the auction was postponed from that date. This decision was made in consideration of the ongoing preparations of the Indian kabaddi team for the Asian Games, which are scheduled to begin later this month.

In the PKL Season 10 auction, both domestic and overseas players will be categorized into four groups: A, B, C, and D. These categories will further distinguish players based on their roles as all-rounders, defenders, and raiders. The base price for players in Category A is set at Rs. 30 lakh, Category B at Rs. 20 lakh, Category C at Rs. 13 lakh, and Category D at Rs. 9 lakh.

The player pool for Season 10 of the Pro Kabaddi League will encompass over 500 players, and this includes the 24 players who were part of the two finalist teams in the Khelo India University Games 2023. Each franchise participating in the league will have a salary purse of Rs. 5 crore to use for player acquisitions and contracts.

The PKL teams have already initiated the process of assembling their squads for Season 10 in accordance with the league’s player policy for the upcoming season. In August 2023, the PKL teams exercised their right to retain players from their respective squads in Season 9 as part of their squad-building strategy.

The franchises were provided with the option to retain players in three distinct categories: Elite Retained Players (ERP), Retained Young Players (RYP), and Existing New Young Players (ENYP). In total, 84 players were retained through this process, comprising 22 in the ERP category, 24 in the RYP category, and 38 in the ENYP category. However, players who were not retained, including notable stars like Pawan Sehrawat, Vikash Kandola, and Fazel Atrachali, will be put up for auction in the upcoming event.

The upcoming player auctions are expected to be highly competitive, as they feature a lineup of superstars, including renowned names like Pawan Kumar Sehrawat, Maninder Singh, Mohammadreza Shadlloui, and Fazel Atrachali, all of whom are part of the auction pool. Despite 84 players being retained by the 12 teams, notable players like last season’s MVP Arjun Deshwal (Jaipur Pink Panthers), Naveen Kumar (Dabang Delhi), Pardeep Narwal (UP Yoddhas), and Aslam Inamdar (Puneri Paltan) are still available for bidding, making the auctions even more exciting.

“We are delighted to announce that the Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 Player Auction will now be held immediately after the Asian Games. We are certain that there will be very strong fan excitement and interest in a blockbuster Player Auction, where several star performers from the Asian Games will attract competitive bidding from the PKL teams,” stated PKL League Commissioner Anupam Goswami.
