Since its establishment by Mashal Sports and Disney Star, the Pro Kabaddi League has emerged as one of India’s most successful sports leagues. Presently, the tournament operates under the oversight and approval of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI).

Anupam Goswami, who holds the position of Head of Sports Leagues at Mashal Sports and also serves as the League Commissioner for the Pro Kabaddi League, shared his thoughts regarding the unveiling of the PKL Season 10 schedule.

A Showcase of Talent: Rohit’s Standout Performances

“We have witnessed kabaddi spreading across India as a sport people love to watch and play through the success of the last nine seasons of PKL. Now, with our landmark tenth edition, we are excited to grow the sport and continue to be the platform that has seen talent emerge from across the world to shape the future of kabaddi,” Goswami said.

“Without a doubt, a legacy has been built and we are grateful to our athletes and fans equally for being part of this incredible journey. We promise a memorable tenth edition which will be a true celebration of the sport,” he added.

The previous season unfolded in Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad, culminating in playoffs held in Mumbai. In contrast, the 2021-22 season was constrained to Bengaluru alone, as the nation grappled with the aftermath of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Preceding this, the 2020 season faced a complete postponement.

The upcoming Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 Auction (PKL) is scheduled for September 8 to September 9, 2023, in Mumbai. In the following weeks, the league will share additional details about this significant season. So far, the teams have held onto eighty-four players in anticipation of PKL 2023. To finalize their squads, the focus now shifts to acquiring top talents through the auction process.

The Pro Kabaddi 2023 auction will feature an extensive pool of over 500 players available for bidding. This diverse pool encompasses both homegrown kabaddi talents and players who have been released from previous teams.

This year’s auction pool is composed of the leading eight teams from the Senior Nationals Kabaddi Championship across the last two seasons. Inclusion extends to players who participated in PKL Seasons 8 and 9, along with international players. Notably, the pool encompasses 24 players from the finalist teams of the Khelo India University Games 2023 as well.

Jaipur Pink Panthers are the reigning champions for the second consecutive time, while Patna Pirates hold the distinction of being the most successful team with three titles to their name. Among the accomplished players, UP Yoddha’s Pardeep Narwal holds the record for the highest raid points (1,542).

On the defensive front, Iranian stalwart Fazel Atrachali has clinched the lead with the most tackle points (424), currently spearheading Puneri Paltan’s defense.

Pawan Kumar Sehrawat has carved his name in PKL history as the most expensive player, commanding a substantial sum of INR 2.26 crore when acquired by Tamil Thalaivas. Regrettably, his fortunes took a downturn when an unfortunate injury sidelined him during the inaugural match of PKL 9, causing him to sit out the rest of the season.
