Quicks fire as Bangladesh Down Netherlands in Hobart

Bangladesh started their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaign in style with a nine-run victory over the Netherlands in Hobart on Monday.

The team fought hard to defend their score of 144/8 as their bowlers turned it on in style at Bellerive Oval. Taskin Ahmed (4/25) set the tone when he removed Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd with the first two balls of the Netherlands’ run chase on his way to career-best figures, and he was well supported by Hasan Mahmud (2/15).

Skipper Shakib Al Hasan (1/32) made the game for Bangladesh especially good with his four overs and a pair of run-outs in the field. While Bangladesh showed strong plays, Netherlands did not back down and managed to limit Shakib and Litton Das to 16 runs with their bowls.

In the end, Afif brought the team to a decent total with 38 off 27 deliveries. With the showcase of skills from different players, many are excited to see Bangladesh’s performance when they face South Africa on Thursday in Sydney.

The Netherlands team, on the other hand, will need to fight hard since their next opponent at the SCG on Thursday is India.
