Shubman Gill’s phenomenal performance in the ongoing IPL season has left cricket enthusiasts in awe. The 23-year-old batsman has not only shattered records but has also etched his name among the elite few who have achieved remarkable milestones before turning 25. With his century, Gill has joined the exclusive club of players who have amassed over 600 runs in an IPL season before reaching the age of 25. Other notable young talents who achieved this feat include Rishabh Pant, who amassed 684 runs in 2018 at the age of 20, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored 635 runs in 2021 at the age of 24, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who accumulated 625 runs at the age of 21 in 2023.
In addition to his remarkable run-scoring prowess, Gill has also etched his name in the record books by hitting the most sixes in an inning by a GT batter. During his scintillating knock of 104* off just 52 balls, Gill smashed five fours and an impressive eight sixes. This includes three centuries and one fifty, with his highest score being a phenomenal 208.
Even in the shortest format of the game, T20Is, Gill has showcased his prowess by scoring 202 runs in six matches at an average of 40.0, including a stunning century with a top score of 126. Combining all formats of international cricket, Gill has amassed a staggering total of 980 runs in 17 matches and 18 innings, maintaining an exceptional average of 106.40. His incredible tally includes five centuries and a fifty, with his highest score being an extraordinary 208.
