Many of them have achieved great success in their careers, winning numerous titles and awards. They have also inspired younger generations of footballers to follow in their footsteps and make their mark on the game. These are just a few famous football brothers that have stood out over football history:

The Kroos

The Kroos brothers are both successful football players. Toni Kroos is the older brother, born on January 4, 1990 in East Germany, and plays for Real Madrid. He started his career at Bayern Munich and has won numerous titles including five Champions League trophies, three La Liga titles, and a World Cup with the German national team.

Felix Kroos is the younger brother, born on March 12, 1991, and was also a central midfielder. Although not as successful as his brother, he played for Hansa Rostock and has talent as a footballer. Both brothers started playing together at Hansa Rostock, but Toni moved to Bayern Munich, and they pursued their careers separately.

The de Boers

Frank and Ronald de Boer are twin brothers who played professional football and achieved tremendous success throughout their careers. They both started at Ajax, where they won five Eredivisie titles and a Champions League. They also played together at FC Barcelona for one season and were later reunited at Rangers, Al-Rayyan, and Al-Shamal. Frank played as a center-back, while Ronald was an attacking midfielder or forward.

Frank scored 46 goals and provided 17 assists in 433 appearances for Ajax, and also won a La Liga title with Barcelona. Ronald made 304 appearances for Ajax, scoring 61 goals and providing 39 assists before moving to Barcelona. They are two of the greatest brothers in the history of football and are recognized as successful and iconic individuals in the football halls of fame.

The Hazards

The Hazard brothers, Eden, Thorgan, and Kylian, have all made names for themselves in the world of football. Eden, the oldest, started his professional career at LOSC Lille before joining Chelsea and becoming a legend for the club. He then moved to Real Madrid for a whopping €115 million in 2019, but has struggled to find form due to injuries. Thorgan, the middle brother, has played for some of the best clubs in the world and has an impressive record of 86 goals and 95 assists at club level.

While he hasn’t won as many trophies as Eden, he won the DFB-Pokal with Borussia Dortmund in 2020-21 and was named Belgium Footballer of the Year in 2013. Kylian, the youngest of the three, has played for a number of clubs and currently plays as an attacking midfielder for RWDM. While he may not reach his older brother Eden’s level of success, he still has the potential to make a name for himself in the sport.

The Boatengs

Jerome Boateng and his half-brother Kevin-Prince have had vastly different career trajectories in professional football. Jerome has been a model of consistency, except for a brief stint at Manchester City, playing regularly for Bundesliga side Hamburg and then moving to Bayern Munich in 2011, where he has made over 300 appearances and won seven consecutive league titles.

On the other hand, Kevin-Prince has been a journeyman, playing for 13 different clubs over the past 15 years, including Barcelona, AC Milan, and Portsmouth. Despite being half-brothers and born in Germany, they represent different nations, with Kevin-Prince playing for Ghana and Jerome playing for Germany.

The Toures

Kolo, who played for Arsenal and Manchester City, was a crucial part of the legendary “Invincibles” team which won the Premier League in 2003/04 without losing a single game. Yaya, who joined City a year after his brother, won the Premier League with the club three times before leaving for Olympiacos in 2018.

He also captained Italy to World Cup victory in 2006, becoming the first defender to win the Ballon d’Or. Paolo, on the other hand, returned to Napoli before ending his playing career at Sassuolo. The Cannavaro brothers are now both coaches at Guangzhou Evergrande, a Chinese Super League side.

The Laudrups

Michael Laudrup is widely regarded as Denmark’s best player due to his impressive career playing for top clubs like Juventus, Barcelona, and Real Madrid, as well as his success winning the European Cup. However, it was his younger brother Brian who led Denmark to their unexpected victory in the 1992 European Championship.

Despite both initially declining to participate in the tournament due to disagreements with the head coach, Brian eventually agreed to play and helped secure Denmark’s first major international trophy. Michael, on the other hand, chose to go on holiday instead of joining the team. The Laudrup brothers remain a prominent part of Danish football history.

Rafinha, on the other hand, has remained at Barcelona but has had limited game time and has been loaned out to Celta Vigo and Inter Milan in recent years. Interestingly, the brothers have also represented different national teams, with Thiago choosing Spain, and Rafinha representing Brazil.

The Inzaghis

Filippo and Simone Inzaghi were both professional footballers, but Filippo was a much more prolific striker than his younger brother. Filippo scored 313 goals in his career, playing for clubs like Parma, Atalanta, Juventus, and AC Milan, and also netted 25 times for Italy. He won numerous trophies, including three Serie A titles, two Champions Leagues, and the World Cup.

In contrast, Simone scored only 95 goals, mostly for Lazio, and never played for Italy. However, he still enjoyed success, winning eight major honors, including one Scudetto with Lazio. Simone has been the manager of Lazio since 2016.
