Exciting news for cricket fans as the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the winners of the Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month awards for March. And the winners are none other than Shakib Al Hasan and Henriette Ishimwe!

Shakib Al Hasan, the talented all-rounder from Bangladesh, claimed the prestigious award for the second time after his outstanding performance against England in a T20I series. His amazing performances in all three formats against Ireland played a crucial role in his receiving the award.

As for Henriette Ishimwe, the rising star from Rwanda made history by becoming only the second female player from an Associate Member to win the ICC Player of the Month award. The 19-year-old all-rounder beat out Sibona Jimmy and Ravina Oa from Papua New Guinea for the prestigious award.

Shakib’s Latest Achievements

Shakib has shown an amazing performance for the past few months. scored 141 runs in the three-match ODI series against England and picked up six wickets as his team lost the series. However, in the third and final match, he played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s 50-run win, scoring a quick-fire 75 off 70 balls and taking four wickets to win the Player of the Match award.

In the T20I series against England, Shakib claimed three wickets in as many games as Bangladesh secured a historic 3-0 series sweep against the reigning world champions. Shakib’s excellent form continued against Ireland as he top-scored with 93 runs in the first ODI and took five wickets in the second T20I while contributing an unbeaten 24-ball 38.

The 36-year-old all-rounder finished the month of March with 353 runs and 15 wickets in 12 matches. Kane Williamson of New Zealand and Asif Khan of the United Arab Emirates were also nominated for the Player of the Month award.

Upon receiving the award, Shakib expressed his gratitude and mentioned the clean sweep against England as his highlight of the month. He also credited his team’s performances and teamwork for his ability to concentrate on his role and contribute effectively.

Ishimwe’s Achievements

Ishimwe played a key role in the Nigeria Cricket Federation Women’s International Twenty20 Tournament, where she put in some outstanding performances. In the first game against Ghana, she scored 32 runs off just 22 balls and then took four wickets for just four runs. She continued her good form in the following games, scoring 44 runs in one game and taking five wickets in the other.

Despite her impressive performances, Ishimwe’s team didn’t win the tournament. However, Ishimwe’s efforts were recognized by the ICC, and she was delighted to receive the Player of the Month award.

“I am humbled and honored to win this award for my performances in the last month. I owe this award to the many people who have supported me throughout my journey in cricket,” said Ishimwe.
