Shoriful Islam Receives Offer From Colombo Strikers
In the lead-up to the highly anticipated Lanka Premier League (LPL), franchises have been actively seeking talent from Bangladesh to bolster their squads. Shoriful Islam, one of Bangladesh’s young pacers, receives an offer from Colombo Strikers for the upcoming tournament.
The news was confirmed by none other than Shoriful himself, who spoke about the offer in an interview. However, the cricketer’s participation in the LPL hinges on the receipt of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Such certificates are essential for Bangladeshi players to participate in foreign leagues while ensuring their commitments to the national team are balanced.
In their last match against Afghanistan, Shoriful played a crucial role for the squad. He proved to be highly effective and relentless in the scorching sun. In the very first over of the innings, he dismissed Ibrahim Zadran and then forced Rahmat to get a duck. Even Rahmanullah Gurbaz couldn’t escape his prowess, as the young pace sensation from Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam, removed him for a slow 6 off 22 deliveries. Shoriful’s outstanding performance did not end there. He went on to trap Mohammad Nabi in front of his pads, resulting in an LBW, and with that, Afghanistan found themselves in a dire situation, with the scorecard reading 15-4.
Shoriful is not the only Bangladeshi player to have received such offers. Both Taskin Ahmed and Towhid Hridoy were earlier approached by Dambulla Giants and Jaffna Kings, respectively, to be a part of their LPL squads. However, the finalization of their participation, like Shoriful’s, depends on the issuance of the NOC, which is a standard procedure for players representing Bangladesh.

As of now, only two Bangladeshi cricketers have been confirmed to play in the upcoming LPL season: the renowned all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and the talented wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Mithun.
