Sanju Samson, captain of the Rajasthan Royals, has become the first player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to reach the milestone of scoring 3,000 runs for a single franchise. This impressive feat was achieved during RR’s match against Gujarat Titans on Sunday.

During the match, Samson proved his worth as he scored 60 runs off just 32 balls, including three fours and six sixes, with an incredible strike rate of 187.50. His performance helped RR chase down a target of 178 runs.

In addition to reaching 3,000 runs, he hit six sixes in his innings, becoming the first Indian batsman to smash six or more sixes in an innings six times in the IPL. Samson joined the likes of Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, and Andre Russell in an elite list of players who have hit six or more sixes in an innings most times.

Samson’s IPL Story

In his IPL career, Samson has played for both Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals, scoring a total of 3,683 runs at an average of 29.23 and a strike rate of 136.76. He has also hit three centuries and 19 half-centuries in the tournament.

Samson’s most successful IPL season came in 2021, where he scored 484 runs in just 14 matches, including a century and two half-centuries, with the best score of 119.

Sanju Samson was originally part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad but never got a chance to make his debut in the IPL. However, he made his first appearance in the tournament for Rajasthan Royals in the 2013 season and has since become a valuable asset for the team.
