The Bangladesh Cricket Board has made a bold move by canceling one of their test matches against Afghanistan. This decision was made to allow the team to concentrate more on their white-ball cricket skills in preparation for the ODI World Cup that will take place later this year in India.

The revised schedule now consists of three ODIs, three T20s, and one test match. This change will give the team more time to focus on their limited-overs game, which is crucial in the modern-day cricket format. With the ODI World Cup fast approaching, every game and every practice session will count towards the team’s preparation.

Bangladesh has a good track record in sub-continental conditions and will be hoping to build on their past performances. In the 2022 T20 World Cup, the team had a chance to progress to the knockout stages but unfortunately fell short. This year’s ODI World Cup will be another opportunity for them to prove their worth and show the world what they are capable of.

Details on Plans for the Bangladesh Team

The BCB was also planning to organize a 10-day-long skill camp abroad, either in Bengaluru or the UAE, to prepare for the World Cup. However, with the World Cup schedule not yet announced, the board has not been able to finalize the camp. If they cannot hold the skill camp abroad, they will prepare for the World Cup at home.

Yunus expressed his concerns about the schedule and emphasized the importance of preparing well for the mega tournament. He further added that they will consider all the ODI matches they will be playing ahead of the World Cup as part of their preparation for the tournament.

The Bangladesh cricket team is currently scheduled to play a three-match ODI series in Ireland on May 9, 12, and 14, as part of the World Cup Super League. This series will be crucial for the team to gain some momentum and confidence ahead of the World Cup.

Other Reports on the Team

The Bangladesh cricket team departed for England on Monday in two groups, in preparation for their upcoming three one-day internationals against Ireland.

Bangladesh has already secured qualification for the 2023 World Cup in India, but Ireland can secure a direct qualification with a 3-0 series sweep. If not, they will have to contest the World Cup qualifiers next month in Zimbabwe. Shakib al Hasan will join the team before Friday, while Liton Das and Mustafizur Rahman will join in a couple of days.

Aside from this, it was recently reported that the batting coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team, Jamie Siddons, has declared his intention to resign from the position. He will now be concentrating on developing players who are not yet part of the squad.

In conclusion, the Bangladesh cricket team is gearing up for the all-important ODI World Cup later this year. With their focus now firmly on their limited-over skills, they will be looking to make a strong statement in India. Fans will be eagerly watching their progress and hoping for an exciting tournament.
