Rajasthan Royals’ young gun, Yashasvi Jaiswal, lit up the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday by smashing an incredible 124 off just 62 balls. The 21-year-old left-hander put on a one-man-army show for his team, hitting 16 fours and eight sixes to score the highest individual score by an uncapped player in IPL history.

Jaiswal’s knock was also the fourth-youngest century in the IPL, which is a testament to his immense talent and potential. His innings were crucial in taking Rajasthan Royals to a massive total of 212/7 in their 20 overs against Mumbai Indians.

The player was picked up by the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2019 auction for a whopping Rs 2.4 crore. Although he struggled initially, he has come into his own in IPL 2023

Jaiswal’s Match Performance

While the rest of the Royals’ batting line-up struggled to score, it was Jaiswal who single-handedly carried the team forward with his remarkable hitting. His effort overshadowed the last-highest score by an uncapped Indian player, previously held by Paul Valthaty, who scored 120* for Punjab Kings (PBKS) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2011.

Although Jaiswal’s outstanding innings were not enough to secure the victory for Rajasthan, it was a reminder of his immense potential and talent. He was named the Player of the Match, which was well deserved.

Additionally, Jaiswal currently holds the Orange Cap for the highest run-scorer in the tournament.

How LSG Won

Meanwhile, the LSG team has set the second-highest total in the history of the IPL, with a whopping 257/5 at the end of their innings.

The LSG batters put on an outstanding show, with Marcus Stoinis and Kyle Mayers hitting blazing fifties. Stoinis scored 72 runs off just 40 balls, while Mayers scored 54 runs off 24 balls. Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni also made valuable contributions with their scores of 45 off 19 balls and 43 off 24 balls, respectively.

LSG’s total of 257/5 surpassed the previous highest total of IPL 2023, which was set by Chennai Super Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders. It was also only the second time in the history of the IPL that a team had crossed the 250-mark.

Although the LSG team did not break the record held by Royal Challengers Bangalore for the highest total in the history of the tournament, they came very close.

If it weren’t for the slow start by skipper KL Rahul and an excellent final over from Arshdeep Singh, LSG could have potentially broken the record. Nevertheless, the team’s impressive performance is worth celebrating.

After the Match

After the match, Jaiswal revealed that he was not aware of hitting a century until the ball crossed the boundary. He credited his success to his hard work, focus on his fitness, and mental strength. He also thanked his fans for their support and encouragement.

Despite the defeat, Rajasthan Royals remain in a strong position in the IPL 2023 standings. The team’s fans will be hoping that Jaiswal continues to perform at this level and takes his team to the title.
