Former Australian cricketer Jamie Siddons has announced his decision to step down as the batting coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team. Siddons joined the Bangladesh Cricket Board in February 2022 for a second stint as the batting coach.

Before that, Siddons was appointed as the batting consultant for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in 2021, and later he was included in the national team’s support staff.

Additionally, he previously served as the head coach from 2007 until 2011. However, he has now decided to focus on nurturing the country’s future players with the A-Team.

Siddons Confirms the Announcement

Siddons took to Facebook on Monday, May 1, to make the announcement. He stated that he will no longer be working with the national team, but will instead be concentrating on developing players who are not yet part of the squad. According to Siddons, these players are improving every day and are getting ready for their chance to represent their country.

The 59-year-old went on to say that he loves coaching young players about the game and that he and the Bangladesh Cricket Board have worked together to make it happen. Siddons believes that most of the skill development, improvement, and training takes place in the nets and heat when grinding it out in the nets at Mirpur.

Siddons’ decision to step down as the batting coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team was reached amicably with the board. He is now looking forward to working with the country’s future players with the A-Team and the Tigers.
